Nimrod Vider - epictrail

Hi, I'm Nimrod Vider

I’m the proud owner and founder of The Epic Trail. My home is in Moshav Bekaot, nestled in the Jordan Valley. Throughout my life, I’ve been deeply connected to this terrain, guiding tours for more than 25 years. In addition to leading tours, I cultivate vineyards and run a rangers company focused on combating agricultural crime.

I’m a graduate of the Vangate Institute, where I trained as an off-road driving and rescue instructor for senior instructors. Over the last decade, I’ve spearheaded various challenging expeditions, including the cross-Israel journey, which varies in difficulty. My experience extends beyond Israel; I also conduct extreme off-road journeys in Romania and Greece, organizing SBS expeditions and trips for all types of SUVs.

In recent years, my focus has been on leading and instructing advanced driving and complex rescue courses, specifically designed for seasoned off-road drivers and off-road services.

Tragically, on March 27, 2002, the eve of Passover, a horrific terrorist attack unfolded at a hotel celebration, marking it as one of the largest terrorist attacks in Israel (until the catastrophe on October 7, 2023). This devastating event claimed the lives of 34 people, including three cherished members of my family: my younger sister Sivan, my future brother-in-law Avraham (Avi) Bekerman, and my father, Zev (Zevik) Vider. At that time, I couldn’t have imagined that my life’s journey would be about realizing my father’s vision.

The wilderness has been a central part of my life since my youth. I started hiking alone and leading groups when I was 17, and now, nearly 30 years later, it’s still my passion.

I’ve guided adventures in Romania, Greece, and Israel. The most significant of these is the Israel Cross-Journey. On this journey, I take off-road enthusiasts from the far north of Israel to the southern city of Eilat and the Gulf of the Red Sea. We explore remote areas, beginning in the north with its streams and springs, crossing the Jordan Valley, where the Israelites entered the Promised Land. Our route takes us through vineyards and date plantations, across the Judean Desert to see the ‘Dir Mar Saba,’ the monastery perched on the cliffs, and then through the desert. We navigate large streams, marvel at the stunning Eilat Mountains, and are ultimately greeted by the breathtaking view of the Red Sea’s bay.

On these journeys, a realization dawned on me: How could I expose a wider audience to the wonders of Israeli nature and history? This isn’t just another trip to cities like Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Tiberias, Haifa, or Eilat. It’s about venturing into an off-road expedition, traversing mountains and embarking on a journey previously inaccessible to tourists and most Israeli residents lacking the right vehicle, navigational skills, and terrain knowledge.

In the midst of these reflections, the love and vision my father instilled in me as a child inspired ‘The Epic Trail.’ I can promise that this journey will lead you to unimaginable places. It’s not just about the challenge of driving; it’s also about overcoming personal obstacles, forging a stronger and braver bond with your travel partner, and connecting deeply with the path you choose. You’ll start the journey with strangers, but by the end, you’ll part as a family

So If you would like to join me on one of these trips I would be happy and for any questions don’t hesitate to reach out to me at nimrod@theepictrail.com

Yours Nimrod
